This past Tuesday I was lucky enough to have a half day thanks to a visit from the Bishop. Because of Pat's transfer, his day off has changed so we were able to spend the afternoon together with the kids before I went to basketball practice.
We took Nicholas to have some blood drawn for his allergy testing. I have to say this was probably the most traumatic thing I have ever had to deal with since becoming a parent. This trumps two surgeries, multiple ER visits, a week long hospital stay and anything else we may have had to deal with!! I'm not sure who cried more during the experience, me or Nicholas! Luckily, we had an awesome phlebotomist who was fast and drew all of the vials (6 of them) quickly and effortlessly. Nicholas was a TROOPER and only milked it a little bit! ;)
After the blood draw we took the kids for ice cream to soothe some "wounds" and then we went on a hunt for an open Christmas tree "stand". We wanted to get a real tree for one of our trees this year and I wanted to get it from a place that would be using their profits for a community organization or a school. Nothing was open so we opted to take the kids to the playground. They had a ball and it was cold enough out that we knew it would tire them out but we wouldn't have to stand out in the cold for too long!!
