ChathamFest and Bike Riding

Today was ChathamFest at Fishawack and we headed to Grandma and Pop-pop's for the afternoon and to enjoy some festival fun!
The kids had a nice time walking around, having some lunch, and exploring Chatham.
Once we finished wandering through the different vendors and listening to an ACDC cover band, we headed to the kids' part of the festival.
Nicholas and Addison loved the train and all of the different inflatables!
Addison was completely fearless and went on everything and had a ball!
It was a very good thing that the rain came because I'm not sure how we would have gotten them away from all of the fun!

Making Our Way Back to Grandma and Pop-pop's

Once we arrived back at grandma and pop-pop's Nicholas wanted to show me how he could ride his bike up the hill of the driveway. It was the perfect way to expend that last bit of energy before heading home!
Nicholas did a GREAT job riding his bike and Addison even got in on the action, as well!

Summer Sweetness

We've had a really nice weekend...a beginning many Summer weekends! I canceled a bunch of plans this weekend to stay close to home because Nicholas still has not passed the hardware that he swallowed on Monday and I was concerned. We're still currently waiting and have given him the deadline of tomorrow evening before we return to the doctor.

Because I ended up canceling plans, I needed to find something for the kids and I to do so that we'd stay occupied and have a good time! Friday night, the kids got plenty of Daddy and Me time while I was at my Softball banquet- which was lovely! Saturday morning we slept in a bit and then got ready to head out for the day- Daddy to work and Mommy and the kids to a day full of activities...or so we thought!

The NY Jets have their practice and training facility in Florham Park, just minutes away from grandma and pop-pop. So, after a diner lunch with just the kids and I we ran a few errands and then picked up Pop-pop and headed to the facility for Jets Fest. (We are not Jets fans but this was something to do!) We got to the Jets campus and hopped on a shuttle bus to take us over the fieldhouse and site of Jets Fest. Little did we know that the shuttle bus would be the highlight of our trip!! Once we arrived at the fieldhouse we came to find out that Jets Fest was only open to the public in the morning, not as the paper had stated ALL DAY LONG! We hopped back on another shuttle bus and headed back to the car! The kids took it all in stride, while mommy and Pop-pop were less than thrilled! (The Giants would have let us in!!) The rest of the afternoon was spent playing at grandma and pop-pop's house, fingerpainting and running around! It was quite nice!

Sunday, our plans worked out quite well!! Daddy had to work in the morning and then we met him in Denville for Denville Day! The kids had a great time riding the rides, enjoying ice cream, checking out all of the different vendors and fire trucks and just enjoying the day outside! After Denville Day we brought Daddy to work at grandpa's restaurant and the kids enjoyed some more food and were even put to work a little bit!!

While the weekend didn't work out exactly as I had planned, it was a wonderful beginning of Summer weekend that we all enjoyed! We can't wait for the many more to come!!

Firsts

There are so many 'firsts' when you have kids.
Their first smile.
Their first laugh.
The first time they roll over.
The first step.
The first day of school.

I could go on....

Today, we had a first that I hadn't expected. Today, Nicholas swallowed his first, and hopefully, his last bolt.

Yes, bolt.

Pat called me at work and told me Nicholas had swallowed a bolt and what should we do. I made a few calls and we were on our way to the emergency room. Nicholas had an x-ray done and what we assumed was a small screw actually turned out to be a bolt. I'm still not sure how he got it down his throat!! But it's there.....in his stomach waiting for the journey to continue.

Everyone we encountered during this experience got a good chuckle out of the situation and then proceeded to tell us what their child had swallowed. We are clearly in "good" company!!

On a more positive, and less painful note, the kids both experienced a much more enjoyable first today, as well. Since I had a half day before graduation this evening, we opted- after our impromptu hospital visit, to take them to see "Up". This was their first time in a movie theater and they had a ball! The movie was pretty good, too!!

Sunny Saturday

We spent the day at my Grandfather's house today. The McGeary side of the family hasn't been together in awhile so we decided to organize an impromptu gathering. Initially, we were planning on spending the day at Grandpa's eating and drinking and hanging out together. Once everyone got there we opted to head out for lunch to a local bar/restaurant. We enjoyed some outside time and then headed to Chelsea's Bar for a yummy lunch. After lunch most of us headed back to grandpa's for some dessert and some more outside time! It was so nice to spend a gorgeous day with family enjoying some great quality time!

Memorial Day Weekend 2009

We hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day Weekend! We sure did!!
Friday, the kids and I ran some errands and got ready for the weekend festivities to come.
Saturday rolled around and I took Nicholas and Addison to a BBQ at a friend's house. We had fabulous food and the kids got to play and run around while I got to sit and enjoy good company!
Sunday we spent the day relaxing and cleaning for the next day.
Monday was our big celebration day! We hosted our annual Memorial Day BBQ!! We kept it small this year but it was still tons of fun! We had lots of good food and spent the afternoon and evening hanging out by the pool and enjoying each other's company!
