Last Snow of 2012

We headed down to Grandma and Pop-pop's yesterday to hang out.
While there, we suited everyone up and headed out into the snow.
Grandma and Pop-pop got a bit less snow than we did but it was still fun for the kids to play in and with.  This was really the first time the girls have ever been out in the snow and I was quickly reminded of "The Cosby Show" episode where Cliff has to dress Rudy for the snow.  It takes him 15 minutes to get her all suited up and then she had to go to the bathroom.  Granted, neither of the girls were heading to the potty but if we spent 10 minutes outside with them after gearing up it was a lot!
Carrington did not enjoy the snow on her hands but eventually started climbing in it with her older brother and sister.  Mady was a little bit more agreeable with regards to the white stuff but not nearly as much as they will be next year- I hope!

Saturday Snow

There's banana bread in the oven, chili on the stove, the house is a Christmas disaster and the kids are outside playing in the snow. It's a pretty good day for a post Christmas snowstorm!

Christmas 2012

Well, Christmas Day has come and gone and it was quite lovely.
The entire day was spent at home surrounded by family.
The kids were up early but not too early.
We read the Christmas Story before anything else.
Then they opened their stockings and then sort of patiently played a game they received on Christmas Eve.
Grandma and Pop-pop and Aunt Jessica arrived around 9:30 and we had a quick, but yummy, breakfast.
Then, finally, opened presents.
The many different Santas were very generous and giving to our family.
Nicholas and Addison received lots of things that they had asked for from Santa and they were very grateful.
After presents we ate some more and played with new toys and napped.
Dinner was homemade ravioli and meatballs followed up by dessert which was then followed up by a long winter's nap for Mommy.
It was a wonderful day and exactly how Christmas should be!
We hope that everyone had as wonderful of a Christmas and that you are staying warm in the snow- if you're seeing it!

Christmas Eve 2012

As we do every year, Christmas Eve was spent at Grandpa Stella's house.  Grandpa Stella wasn't feel well and the girls are just getting over pretty bad illnesses so we opted to let them stay with Grandma and Pop-pop for the evening.  Nicholas and Addison had a good time playing with Aunt Liz and hanging out with Grandpa.  Then we all enjoyed lots of delicious food and opened presents.  After presents we finished stuffing ourselves with delicious desserts and then headed out into the snow towards home.  Nicholas and Addison were excited to get to sleep so that Santa could come!

Jolly Jump

If you have kids or you've ever been around young kids at this time of year you know that their energy and excited are at boundless levels.  You also know that your sanity is probably at its weakest, as well.
In an effort to help the kids works off some energy and also save some of my and my best friend's sanity we took all of our kids to what is known as a Jolly Jump.
Saturday evening we went to a local inflatible jump house that was hosting a Jolly Jump with Santa.  The kids got to jump and run around for 90 straight minutes then had pizza and sat on Santa's lap.  They had an AWESOME time and were exhausted by the end.  It was the perfect "gift" for the moms and the kids!!
