Back to School

Tonight was Back to School Night at Nicholas and Addison's school.  I can, without any type of bias or malice, now say that back to school night as a parent is easily just as bad or worse than back to school night as a teacher.

Except for the fact that you get awesome stuff from your kids and you can write them notes and cards that you know they'll going to love in the morning.

We went to Addie's class first and got to learn about a typical day in Kindergarten.  We made her a card, checked out her cubby and what she's been working on in class and then saw her table and we were done.

Second grade was a bit more involved.  First, we had to pick up the homework that a certain second grader left in school.  For a kid that is so darn smart, he's so clueless and forgetful sometimes!  Then we checked out Nicholas' classroom and saw his artwork, his summer in review, and what he was excited about for second grade. (Health class...he was excited about health class!)  Finally, we checked out Nicholas' desk, read his awesome descriptions of me and Pat (FYI, I weigh 54 pounds and love salads, Pat weighs 204 pounds and eats tons of pizza. I'm pretty sure we know who my favorite kid is!) We left Nicholas a nice note, checked out some more of his artwork and we were on our way.

Checking out the kids' rooms and their work was great.  Meeting their teachers was also great.  The 45 minute presentation BEFORE all of that was torture.  Nevermind the fact that we sat in the way back of the CafeGymaTorium and I was "distracted" by my phone....

All in all it looks like the kids are starting off great and are loving school.  We are very lucky in that respect!  I'm looking forward to the next few weeks and the work stepping up for them and us getting to meet one on one with their teachers.  We've had a great start to the school and we're counting on it to continue!

I only took one picture but it's of Nicholas' artwork.

Sunday in the Park

We took advantage of the second day of Fall and the gorgeous weather it brought with it today. After a quick errands run, which is quite an experience with 4 kids and only one able to sit in a standard shopping cart at a time, we headed to the park to kill off some energy and enjoy the swings! It was the perfect remedy for two energy filled kids and two almost toddlers who love to show off their cuteness on the baby swing!

Miracles

We hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of September and the entrance of some cooler temperatures!
We sure are!!
The older kids had their first soccer games this weekend and they did great! I'll have some pictures of that in the next few days.  Nicholas scored his first goal for the season and Addie had an awesome time playing her first game as a "Squirrel". (They really shouldn't let the kids pick the team names!)
The twins are getting super big and we are quickly approaching their first birthday which is unbelievable to me!
Carrington is starting to take a few steps on her own and Madelyn is a pro at 'So Big' and clapping hands.  We can't believe how far they've come!
In support of all of the wonderful doctors and nurses that helped make sure our girls made it to where they are today, we will be walking the St. Barnabas Miracle Walk on October 7th.  If you click on the link you can go to our team page and help out with any donation- big or small is GREATLY appreciated and will help!
THANK YOU!
Here are just a few random pictures from my phone over the past couple of days!

We call this one "How everyone in our family gets sick" or "Gross Time with Daddy"

The girls might be mildly fascinated with my iPhone....as they should be with all Apple products! ;)
Someone has been cutting teeth for what seems like months on end...with no actual teeth in sight!

She may look sweet and innocent here...

But she will attack you!

Back to School

School is back in session and I'm not sure who is more excited, me or Nicholas!
Yesterday, Addie and I went to get our pre-first day of school pedicures and manicures.  Addie got super duper hot pink and LOVED getting pampered.  She was all set for school once her nails were done.

This morning Nicholas woke up around 6:45 and was in our room at 7:03 asking if he could go and wait for the bus.  His bus doesn't pick him up until 8:01.
We had some mini cinnamon rolls for breakfast, made sure lunches were pack and backpacks were ready and then Nicholas and I took the super long walk to the end of our driveway to wait for his bus.  I've never seen a kid bounce on to the bus the way that he did.
And while a lot of people have said that will end, I highly doubt it.  Nicholas LOVES school...I mean like he cried on the last day in June because he was going to miss it so much.

Addie is in a half day Kindergarten, not by our choice but by what our district offers.  Since I'm not working, she was put into the afternoon session and doesn't have to get her bus until 11:39am.  From the moment Nicholas left Addie asked every 15 minutes when it was time to get ready for school. She was so excited for school and all of the fun she just knew she was going to have!

The dynamic duo still smiling after bouncing off the bus at the end of the day!

Ready to head to Kindergarten!

Waiting for the bus

Getting him to stop and take this picture was almost impossible since all he wanted to do was stand at the end of the driveway and wait for the bus!

Getting pampered in preparation for Kindergarten!

The kids both had a great day at school and the girls and I enjoyed our afternoon together.  Neither Nicholas or Addison had homework tonight but I certainly did- TONS of paperwork for the beginning of the year!
After a full day that was loads of fun, although none on the playground because apparently there was a bear visitor, we packed everyone into the car and headed out for Addie's first soccer practice!
It's shaping up to be a busy but fun school year!!
